How to Repair your credit:
Here are the steps to alleviate yourself from bad credit:
Step 1) Right of the bat calculate your daily expenditures. Try
for 30 days to track your spending and figure out the expenditures you are making
within a month. Track down how much money is going to leisure, food, and other tangible
goods. Then calculate how much money you have left untouched and set it away for
the unpaid balance.
Step 2) Make sure to Contact your creditors. As soon as you realize
that you can't make any payments which requested by your creditors, don't hesitate
and call. The word on the street frightens people with bad credit to stay away from
calling creditors when in trouble, but that is completely inaccurate. All it takes
is to thoroughly explain your situation either through a telephone call or email
them stating your current financial situation. Most of these creditors are not so
cut-throat as you think they are, they will work with you to schedule much smaller
payments to fit your daily budget. These creditors would rather receive some sort
of payments from you than fall under the risk of receiving nothing from the bankruptcy
court.
Step 3) After calling your creditors, hopefully you will be able
to negotiate lower payments, interest rates, and remaining balance with them. Make
sure to request a letter confirming all this information in writing. This will assure
you to have a document in files in case the credit company changes managements or
creditors become much more meticulous.
Step 4) Once you start paying off your debt on monthly basis, make
sure to request a settlement letter from your creditors and send that copy to the
credit bureaus in order for them to update your credit report.
Step 5) Destroy the cards which got you into this mess. Keep a
minimum of one card in case of emergency. Do not close all your accounts right away,
because this might a sudden burst of activity on your financial stability. The safest
choice is to pay off the remaining balance on the cards and just cut all of them.
Step 6) Find yourself a secured credit card. But beware most of
these secured cards offer high interest rates and fees, so make sure to pay in full
and on time your monthly balance statements.
Step 7) If you are in need of a loan in the future, then join a
credit union, which is more likely to provide you with a loan than a regular bank.
Step 8) And lastly make sure to AVOID bankruptcy if possible. This
stays in your credit report for a whole decade. Statistics have shown those people
who have declared bankruptcy have regretted making that decision. Therefore try to
work hard and dedicate full attention on rebuilding your credit than taking the
easy way, which is declaring bankruptcy
